A customer owned institution is an organisation that is owned by its members. For example; Banks are shareholder owned. Shareholders are individuals that have a financial interest in the bank and desire the highest return on their investment – usually coming at the expense of customers.

Credit Unions are member owned. Our members are our shareholders, which means profits are given back to our members through our pricing.

To become a Member, you need to become a shareholder. It is $5 to become a shareholder, this gives you the ability to hold an account at The Mac and to have your say in how the Credit Union operates at our Annual General Meetings.
