A customer owned institution is an organisation that is owned by its members. For example; Banks are shareholder owned. Shareholders are individuals that have a financial interest in the bank and desire the highest return on their investment – usually coming at the expense of customers.
Credit Unions are member owned. Our members are our shareholders, which means profits are given back to our members through our pricing.
To become a Member, you need to become a shareholder. It is $5 to become a shareholder, this gives you the ability to hold an account at The Mac and to have your say in how the Credit Union operates at our Annual General Meetings.

A recurring payment is an agreement between you and a business or merchant where you have authorised the business/merchant to deduct money from your Visa Debit card on a recurring basis.
A direct debit in an agreement between you and a business or merchant where you have authorised the business/merchant to deduct money directly from your account using your BSB & Account/Alternate Reference Number.
You can contact the business/merchant and instruct them to cancel the recurring payment or direct debit.
Alternatively, you can contact our friendly team who can cancel the recurring payment or direct debit on your behalf. It is important to remember that you will still need to speak to the business/merchant to ensure you comply with an contractual obligations you may have with them.
Also, for us to cancel a recurring payment connected to your Visa Debit card, we need to cancel your card as well. If you wish to replace the card, a replacement card fee may be charged.
